Dr. Adekemi Ekanoye
Dr. Adekemi Ekanoye has a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and also a board certified counselor (NCC).
Adekemi Ekanoye, PhD, LPC, NCC runs a private practice rooted in compassion and cultural sensitivity that is focused on building a deep understanding of clients’ unique experiences. I approach each client’s journey with a strength-based approach, empowering individuals to tap into their inherent resilience and uncover capacities within clients to foster growth, healing, and personal empowerment.
I also draw on an intersectional approach, understanding that your experiences and identity are shaped by the interconnectedness of multiple factors, such as race, gender, culture, age, religion, and social-economic background. I take time to listen and honor your unique experiences, helping you understand how these overlapping identities influence your self-awareness and emotional well-being.
The therapeutic process is relational, built on trust, empathy, and mutual respect, with the counselor offering a space where clients can engage in inner work. This inner exploration encourages clients to face difficult emotions and develop the courage needed to make empowered decisions for growth and healing.
With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual, exploring and building on their strengths to attain the personal growth desired. Whether you’re working through difficult transitions, seeking personal growth, or overcoming mental health challenges, I am here to walk with you every step of the way on your journey toward balance, well-being, and emotional resilience.
Goal
As a counselor, my goal is to create a supportive, non-judgmental, and collaborative space where you can explore your values, emotions, and thought patterns, as you navigate life’s uncertainties and uncover your own inner strengths to overcome these challenges.
Mission
SelfWork Relational Counseling, LLC is committed to providing ethical and effective mental health counseling that guides clients towards wellness, increased hope, sense of self, resilience, and inner-work that fosters growth and healthy lifestyle decisions.
Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome. Vulnerability is not weakness; it’s our greatest measure of courage.”― Brené Brown ―
